In developing the White Paper, the Government was determined to draw on the deep knowledge and expertise that resides in the Australian community.
Between December 2016 and May 2017, the Foreign Policy White Paper Taskforce convened 24 roundtable discussions across Australia; met more than 60 prominent Australians and subject-matter experts; and received over 9,200 written submissions.
The Taskforce spoke to Australians from all walks of life—students, farmers, business leaders, academics and representatives from civil society. The diversity of views and personal experiences is a story in itself, and tells of Australia’s many and varied connections to the world.
The Government released a Foreign Policy White Paper Public Consultation Summary Report on 9 November 2017 that summarises the main themes and issues raised during the public consultations.
As part of the public consultation process, the Government released a call for public submissions.
You can find the public submissions below. Information on the submissions publication process is available, please see the bottom of this page.
Thank you to everyone who contributed their views and ideas on the future of Australia's foreign policy.
