On 2 February, members of the White Paper Taskforce met with academics and young professionals in Perth to discuss foreign policy issues facing Australia today, and in the decade to come.
Guests at the roundtable exchanged views on a range of issues, including national security, Australia's role in the Indo-Pacific region and the importance of language education in Australian schools.
The group raised the impact technology might have on future jobs, the importance of trade and investment for Australia and the rise of protectionism across the globe.
Thanks to the Perth USAsia Centre, the Sir Walter Murdoch School and the Australian Institute of International Affairs WA for hosting the discussion.
The Government is committed to ensuring the White Paper reflects the views and ideas of all Australians. We encourage all young Australians to get involved in the White Paper consultations process by making a submission before 28 February.
