On 1 February, the White Paper Taskforce travelled to Geraldton, Western Australia, to consult representatives from the Mid-West region on Australia’s international engagement.

The roundtable discussion in Geraldton was the first in a month-long series of public consultations around Australia to discuss foreign policy with a diverse range of stakeholders, including business, non-government organisations and subject-matter experts.

Roundtable participants exchanged views on a diverse range of issues, including export opportunities and markets, the benefits to Geraldton businesses of free trade agreements, opportunities for foreign students in the Mid-West, skilled migration and changing regional demographics.

We thank the City of Geraldton for hosting the discussion and look forward to receiving submissions that reflect the views of the region.
